a family beach day. never did nixon think he’d see the day where this was how he’d spend his weekend. he really wasn’t complaining, though. it was pretty nice. beyond just delia and julia, his sister had come along with his nieces and nephews and he was something being able to watch the daughter he hadn’t known that he’d had interact with the only other kids he really knew. “do you want to take a walk?” he asked, turning his head in delia’s direction. “nicola will keep an eye on julia, i’m sure.”

“promise me you won’t overreact.” a great thing to say when hoping to avoid an overreaction, nixon. despite the fact he’s at least trying to seem in control of the situation there’s something slightly nervous in his eyes. “i’m not showing you until you promise me.”

after essentially moving in again over the festive period nixon was starting to struggle with the routine of it all. things felt too normal — if you took away the fact he was sleeping on the couch. it was another evening of putting the kids to bed and then the two of them lingering around, waiting to retire themselves. “i was thinking... i can go home early. i know we said christmas through to new year but i mean, what’s new year to a couple of kids? i doubt they’ll make it ‘til midnight.”

“are you... locked out or something?” typically, nixon doesn’t really engage with his neighbours. hence why he doesn’t even know if this is a neighbour or not. all he does know is that every time he’s gone past his window for the last hour they’ve been hanging around and it’s freezing out.
